Salem Congregational Church Presents " So Nimm denn Meine Hande" CD

The Germans from Russia Heritage Collection is pleased to provide this CD and music of the German Choir of Salem Congregational Church of Scottsbluff in western Nebraska.

This is the third music project of the German Singers. As stated in the first project, the desire of the German Choir is to preserve for future generations a little of the culture of the Germans from Russia who settled in America in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This CD is designed to accompany the sing along book of the same title. The CD is created to honor the memory of the members who sange these prayer meeting songs at brotherhood meetings.

The title song of this CD is "So Nimm denn Meine Hände" written by Julie K. von Husmann, daughter of a gymnasium teacher. Julie worked for a while as a governess, but eventually cared full time for her father, who had gone blind. After his death in 1964, she lived with sisters in Germany, France, and Switzerland, and later with relatives in Eastonia. The music to "So Nimm den Meine Hande" was written by Fredrich Silcher.
