The Glückstal Colonies Research Association (GCRA) wishes to announce the publication of Glückstal Colonies Deaths: 1833 - 1900. The data, which forms the core of the volume, includes extractions of almost 10,000 death events (1833-1900) for the Lutheran Colonies of Bergdorf, Glückstal, Kassel and Neudorf and their daughter colonies in the province of Cherson, Imperial Russia.
The book is in two parts. Part 1 lists the deaths of all who were more than twenty years of age at time of death plus deaths of persons twenty years and under if they were married at the time of death. Part 2 lists the remainder of the death events. In both parts the descedants are first alphabetized by surname and secondly by given name.
Appendices include a male name to female name cross reference for the data in Part 1; a list of places of origin for colonists who immigrated to the Glückstal Colonies; 1826 census data for Glückstal villages; a list of eligible voters and votes cast during an election in the year 1821; death statistics; and a brief history of the Glückstal Colonies and Hoffnungstal including photos of the churches as they existed in late 19th century and photos of the former churches taken in 1996 in Moldova and Ukraine where the villages are located today.
Preparation of the book has been done by Harold M. Ehrman, who was the compiler and editor of the companion volume, Glückstal Colonies Births and Marriages: 1833-1900. As was the case in the earlier volume, the book was proofread by Ed W. Schulz.
