$25.00

The author provides a visual dictionary of specific German dialect spoken in North Dakota.

Tyrase Mack Wald writes, “Contained in this book are many of the words (as well as the definitions) of a specific German dialect that I grew up speaking. This compilation is dedicated to all who cherish  this dialect and enjoyed the review of it. My German language is the fabric and threat of my life. It is easier for me to communicate in German. For instance in my dialect it is much faster and shorter, for instance to say “Do you agree with me?” We just say “gell?”

Wald writes, “This is a dialect from the German colonists in Southern Russia, which consisted of three major enclaves in the Odessa area. This area namely included the Catholic districts of Liebental, Kutschurgan and Beresan, as well as the Alsatian villages of Mannheim, Elsass and Franzfeld. This is the dialect that I consider my German.”
